Social media affecting personal relationships

Social media has become very advanced and most of the population is active on social media. The effects of social on personal relationship and communication can be seen in every culture in the society. The way of communication has bee changed, people prefer more online conversations and relations rather than face to face interactions. They know that “face to face conversations or relations are more reliable, strong and true but still people prefer online communication which has a very weak foundation and no trust” (Keller, 2013, p. 4). Some researchers believe that “social media likely will continue to become increasingly integrated into the normal human experience like most of the communication technologies that preceded it” (Keller, 2013, p. 17). People will keep relying on social to have some connections with new people online rather than by face, but they will take these relationships more seriously than real ones and these will have weak ties as they do not have any idea whether the user is real or fake. Moreover, social media will keep people engage in communication by making connections with unknown people and gradually hey will be able to know that how to identify the person is real or fake as well as “they will be able to know how to use them for good and for bad” (Keller, 2013, p. 17).

    I agree with you that the means of communication have been changed and it has a great impact on our social relationships. As you have reflected that in past, people were meeting each other physically but nowadays they prefer to connect with them through their smart phones and there is no doubt they will be continuing to meet and communicate with them on social sites. But in 2030, the communication sources will be different such as the ways of communication will be more visual like videos, newbie. (Haily, n.d. para. 2). It will be the world of Virtual reality and Augmented reality (Haily, n.d. para. 3). A research by Malwarebytes Labs concluded that 95% of people do not trust on social media it is because as you have mentioned they do not show their reality of life and make fake accounts on social websites (Haily, n.d para 12).
